The Third Employment Laucher starts.

22 unemployed people have begun to train a new job search in the third Employment Launcher of Calvià, coordinated by the Town Hall, the Obra Social (social work) "La Caixa" and Fundación Santa María la Real.

The program is funded with 52,500 euros by the Town Hall, and a 10,000 euros contribution from Obra Social "La Caixa".

The team of this new Employment Launcher has 11 women and 11 unemployed men, aged between 28 and 59 years old. They have different educational profiles (no education, secondary, vocational training school, university studies) and from different sectors such as construction, hospitality, education, culture, psychology, sport, cleaning and administration, among others.

Inma Alcina is the technical manager of the Santa María la Real Foundation that has done the selection process among the hundred people that submitted, and is who manages the launcher in Calvià during the next five months.

She explains that it is a heterogeneous group, with very diverse experiences, and that those profiles with greater difficulty in accessing the labor market have been taken into consideration. "18 of the 22 members are over 45 years old have and accumulated time in an unemployment situation. They are people with special needs and we are going to help them to give a new direction to their job search, " she explains.

What will they do in the Employment Launcher?

During the next five months, they will meet several days a week in the IFOC premises. To improve their employability, they will conduct coaching and emotional intelligence sessions, communication dynamics, personal branding and job research 2.0; training personal interviews; mapping employability, company visits, meetings with entrepreneurs and labor intermediation processes with people responsible for Human Resources.

"The main job during these first weeks is to work on motivation, attitude and self-knowledge. Along with this, it is essential that the heterogeneous group becomes a real team, so everyone can share the same goal and help each other to improve their professional skills, to undertake a more proactive search and coordinated work, and to have new labour opportunities" adds Alcina.

The manager of IFOC, Darío Espallargas, said that "the two employment lauchers of Calvià that which will take place this year suppose a double challenge: on one hand it is a good example of public-private cooperation, as the best possible work scenario. On the other hand, they form, together with the Municipal Employment Office, the Orientation Service of Calvià and the Town Hall's recruitment programmes (youth guarantee and visible programmes), the clearest and most evident strategies to fight unnemployment of this Town Hall in the municipality.
