Calvià is the first municipality of the Balearic Islands including information on municipal aid in the warning letters that endesa sends before power suply discontinuation in non-payment cases.

Last April, the Town Hall and Endesa signed a collaboration agreement in order to ensure power supply to the most vulnerable families in the municipality, to avoid power outages, either through municipal aid or requesting a requesting a division into instalments of the amount or a postponement to the power company.

The Town Hall is aware of the precarious situation of some people or families who use Social Services and are likely to obtain this kind of help, but there is a worry that there might also be people in the same situation and not known as they may not know about the municipal social services.

For this reason, the Department of Social Welfare asked Endesa to include information on municipal aid in the power cut warning letters customers receive from the company, thus, such information reaches every household that can not afford payment of bills.

The inclusion of this information text from the Calvià Town Hall was not included in the agreement signed in April, so the council acknowledges Endesa's collaboration that is already sending out letters with the municipal information.

In this information there are also telephone numbers for the Social Services Department to ask for an appointment, and it is explained that registered people and residents in the municipality of Calvia can contact the Department of Social Services to receive information on the issue of economic aid and assess their request for financial assistance to pay the bill.
