12 women participate in the programme which has already delivered seven microcredits

Today, the Mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, has firsthand known the development of the programme Confía (Trust), in which 12 women participate and which has already delivered 7 microcredits, amounting to 4.200 euros.

The actions are framed within the agreement signed between the Calvià Town Hall and Treball Solidari, according to which the Town Hall, through the Social Welfare Department, provides 33.950 euros to finance, through microcredits, enterprising projects of women who are at social and/or economic risk.

The programme is conducted jointly from IFOC and Social Welfare with Treball Solidari, and two groups of women have been created, one with women derived from the IFOC and another with women, with a greater vulnerability profile who are derived from the Social Services Department.

One of the main objectives is to give a boost, in terms of technical and financial support, to the women who have started with small business initiatives, and also to those who are willing to and need technical support, assistance and funding to carry out their idea of self-employment.

The self-employment initiatives already initiated are, amongst others: the creation of a gastronomic brand linked to a cooking web portal, a real estate services activity, a service project aimed at recreational crafts, a project of home aesthetic, etc.

The groups of women, which began in the month of April, meet every fifteen days and the sessions are managed by the technical assistant of Treball Solidari holding the project.

The beneficiaries of the programme have transferred their expectations, and explained why they approached the programme, ones to receive financial and technical support to undertake a project, others to also feel supported in the path started.

The Mayor has reaffirmed the wise decision of starting-up this agreement in Calvià because "microcredits help to break, not only the glass ceilings, but also the glass barriers that still exist."

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Mayor for Social Cohesion and Equality, Nati Francés; the Councillor for Social Services, Mayte Albertí, and the Director of the Treball Solidari Association, Antoni Sierra.
