Between 150 and 200 people did not want to miss the participation of the Calvian Mario Mola Díaz in the triathlon race of the Olympic Games in Rio. Mario got a meritorious eighth place which deserves an Olympic Diploma, after undertaking a great comeback in the on foot race.
Mario, current leader of the world triathlon series, had a very difficult race, as in the swimming sector he remained behind the first group and the distance increased in the bike segment. Still, Mario showed his great quality in the on foot circuit finally achieving the meritorious 8th place.
The live broadcast of the race at the Casal de Peguera, was attended by triathletes of various clubs of the Balearics, representatives of the Balearic Triathlon Federation, the Hotel Association and sports fans in general. Amongst the attendees, it has to be highlighted the presence of the Mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal; the Deputy Mayor for Sports, Eva Serra; the Councillor for the area of Peguera, Juan Cuadros; the Councillor of Esquerra Oberta, Rafel Sedano, and the Regional Government's General Director of Sports, Carles Gonyalons.
