THE TOWN HALL SIGNS A COLLABORATION AGREEMENT TO HOLD THE SECOND EDITION OF 'MALLORCA WALKING EVENT'
The hiking event will be held from 6th to 9th April 2017 and about 700 participants are expected, 50% more than in the first edition.
Following the success of the first edition held last year, 'Mallorca Walking Event' will return to Calvià in 2017. The Mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, has signed a collaboration agreement with the company Galben Travel Tours and with the Hotel Association of Peguera for holding the second edition of the event.
'Mallorca Walking Event La Primavera' is a hiking event to be held from 6th to 9th April 2017 in Peguera and other locations of the municipality with the aim of deepening on the tourist deseasonalisation. It also aims to show participants the most natural and unknown side of Calvià, the interior of the municipality.
469 people were registered in the first edition, and for next year are expected around 700 participants who will come to enjoy the environment, nature and landscapes of Calvià.
This year, as a novelty with respect to the first edition, in which there were two daily options for participants, there will be one more option so that enrollees can choose depending on their physical condition. Specifically, each athlete during the four days of the event may choose for any of the three daily scheduled routes that will have an approximate length of 12.5, 20 and 30 kilometres.
The Town Hall wants to continue this event and works to promote Calvià as a tourist destination all year round, emphasising on the possibilities of the municipality outside the high season and developing international sports events that contribute to position Calvià as a training and competition destination for European athletes in the middle and low season.
On behalf of Galben Travel Tours, the agreement was signed by the manager, Pedro Javier Galmés, and on behalf of the Hotel Association of Peguera, it was signed by its president, Antonio Mayol. The signing ceremony was also attended by the Deputy Mayor for Tourism, Antonio García Moles, the Deputy Mayor for Sports, Eva Serra, and the Director General of Tourism, Joan Mesquida.
