THE CITIZENSHIP OF CALVIÀ SUBMITS 70 PROPOSALS TO THE PARTICIPATORY BUDGETING OF WHICH 68 HAVE BEEN ADMITTED
Now the municipal technical commission will analyse and classify them to put them later to public voting
The citizenship of Calvià has presented 70 proposals to the participatory budgeting of the municipality, of which 68 have been admitted. Some of them contain sub-proposals and, since some have similar content, they will be regroupable. Only two of the proposals have had to be discarded because they were submitted after the deadline. The contents focus on diverse topics such as infrastructures, infancy, youth and seniors, services, maintenance and social services.
Last 10th October, through the area of Citizen Participation, the deadline was opened so that the citizens of Calvià could present, for the first time, initiatives to the participatory budgeting, which had to meet a number of requirements such as: be competence of the Town Hall, be viable, that do not contravene the current regulations and have a cost lower than the allocated budget (30.000 euros).
Amongst the ideas that have been presented, through the email participa@calvia.com, there are ideas to carry out improvements in certain areas of the municipality in various fields such as lighting, sidewalks, sports facilities, roads, playgrounds, car parks, etc. There are activity proposals aimed at the elderly, young and small, or social support initiatives for families and people with disabilities, amongst others.
Now a second phase is launched in which the selected proposals will be evaluated by the Town Hall. The area of Citizen Participation and Youth will coordinate the process in collaboration with the different technical departments of the areas involved. In this phase, it will be confirmed that the proposals are valid and feasible to be included in the municipal budgeting and a budget estimate will be made of the economic cost of each one of them. Those that do not meet the aforementioned requirements will be excluded from the rest of the process.
The initiatives will be put to a voting through the web www.participacalvia.es, once the municipal technical commission has classified the different proposals. All those submitted, both approved and rejected, will be published with their corresponding reports and assessments.
The Deputy Mayor for Citizen Participation and Youth, Fernando Alcaraz, who has highlighted the work that is being carried out in this process by the Civil Service of Calvià Town Hall, values very positively in this first phase of participatory budgeting the number of citizen proposals submitted and wants to highlight that they are not only investment proposals, as in the majority of participatory budgeting that are under way, but there are also proposals for grants through subsidies and endowments.
