CALVIÀ SAYS NO TO GENDER VIOLENCE
On the occasion of the International Day for the elimination of violence against women, the Calvià Town Hall, through the Department of Social Cohesion and Equality, has prepared a series of activities in the municipality, and a series of events to commemorate this day and show the rejection of violence against women.
For the first time, an event will be held with the three institutes of the municipality. On 25th November at 10 a.m., and simultaneously, the students of IES Calvià, IES Son Ferrer and IES Bendinat will read a manifesto prepared by themselves and will count on the support of the mayor, in one of the centres, and of the councillors of each area, Nati Francés, Alfonso Molina and Mayte Albertí, respectively.
At 12:30 p.m., in the Town Hall, there will be the institutional event of repulse of violence against women and remembrance of the women killed during 2016 in the hands of their partners or ex-partners. During the event, a manifesto will be read and the videos And you, what can you do? will be shown, which have been recorded by the workers of the Town Hall and the students of the institutes, in which they remember one by one the women murdered and the question, what can you do? is answered.
In the afternoon it will participate in the demonstration of Palma with the banner Calvià diu NO a la violència de gènere (Calvià says NO to gender violence).
In addition, various workshops, forums and talks have been scheduled throughout the month of November, and the bar theatre play Dones a escena, which will be performed on 2nd December in Calvià village.
The activities count on the collaboration of the Institut Balear de la Dona, the Direcció Insular de Igualtat del Consell de Mallorca and the Escola per a la Igualtat Genèrica.
