THE LOCAL POLICE OF CALVIÀ MAY INTERVENE IN A MORE DIRECT WAY IN THE PROTECTION OF THE VICTIM IN CASES OF GENDER VIOLENCE

The Town Hall and the Civil Guard have signed an operating procedure, the first of these characteristics signed by a Town Hall of the Balearic Islands

The Local Police of Calvià will be able to intervene in a more direct way in the cases of gender violence after the signing of the operating procedure of collaboration between Calvià Town Hall and the Civil Guard to guarantee the fulfillment of the judicial measures of protection to the victims of gender violence, which have been signed by the Mayor Alfonso Rodríguez Badal and the Colonel Chief of the Civil Guard of the area of the Balearics, Jaime Barceló, with the attendance of the Local Police Chief of Calvià, Justino Trenas.

This is the first protocol of these characteristics signed by a Town Hall of the Balearic Islands in the subject of gender violence.

The headquarters of the Local Police of Calvià and the Civil Guard Headquarters of the Balearics have worked, for months, to establish the participation of the Local Police Corps in the implementation and follow-up of the police and judicial measures agreed for the protection of victims of gender violence residing in the municipality of Calvià, within the framework of the new organisation of the local police that will count on a new Viogen Division.

The operating procedure establishes the criteria for coordinated action between the Local Police of Calvià and the Civil Guard (Calvià main post), as well as the guidelines that must be followed in those actions derived from alleged gender violence cases. These actions will have as fundamental premises the guarantee of protection to the victim.

In order to monitor the distribution and protection of the victims, coordination meetings will be held between the Chief of the Local Police of Calvià and the Post Major of the Main Post of Calvià.

The signing of the agreement was also attended by the Deputy Mayor for Security, Andreu Serra, the Deputy Mayor for Social Cohesion and Equality, Nati Francés, the Councillor for Social Welfare and Senior Citizens, Mayte Albertí, the General Director of Security, José Antonio Fernández Ballesta, the Lieutenant Colonel of Operations of the Civil Guard, Antonio Orantos, and the Lieutenant Major of the main post of the Civil Guard in Calvià, Eduardo Herrero.

This operational procedure is a further step in the fight against gender violence in which the Calvià Town Hall is involved. It has a Technical Board in which all public administrations participate: Town Hall, Ibdona, the Government of the Balearic Islands, Consell de Mallorca, Local Police and Civil Guard.
