The Mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, attended the opening ceremony to mark the start of the works that Meliá Hotels International will undertake on a hotel in the grounds of the former Hotel Jamaica.
The Mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, the Deputy Mayor for Tourism, Antonio García Moles, and the Councillor of the area of Magaluf, Alfonso Molina, attended the opening ceremony to mark the start of the works that Meliá Hotels International will undertake on a hotel, in the grounds of the old Hotel Jamaica.
In his speech, the Mayor thanked the commitment that Meliá has made to reinvest in its hotels of Magaluf to transform a tourist destination in clear risk of maturity. He was also grateful for its sensitivity to understand that this project is strategic for the area – connecting the Avda. de s'Olivera with Avda. de Magaluf - and that it is part of a global project in which the institutions should be, not only in specific actions, such as the change of a street, but in global actions such as the one which will be presented this winter by the Town Hall.
The Mayor also thanked the associated offer that also joins this improvement, remembering that the Town Hall has already opened the deadline of the first call for aids for the refurbishment of businesses and homes.
