The Calvià Town Hall has signed the Protocol of collaboration for the use of the citizen participation tools of Decide Madrid that has allowed Calvià to be one of the pioneer municipalities, along with Barcelona, A Coruña, Oviedo and Valencia, to launch the adapted Participation portal through which the participatory budgets can already be voted, which voting period has been extended until 20th January 2017.
The signing of the Protocol has been carried out simultaneously between the approximately 30 local Spanish and Latin American entities that have joined and that will also implement this participation tool in their respective municipalities and provinces. It is a free software platform and its installation has no cost.
In his speech, the Deputy Mayor of Citizen Participation and Youth of Calvià, Fernando Alcaraz, stressed that "the municipality has the platform adapted and in operation for two months, which has allowed the development of the first participatory budgeting of the history of Calvià ". He explained that, in short, the platform will have a space dedicated to the different municipal associations, another dedicated to volunteering, and that, through it, the second phase of the General Plan of Participatory Urban Planning will be channeled, and will also serve as a tool for the elaboration of ordinances and norms.
The Mayoress of Madrid, Manuela Carmena, and the Delegate of Citizen Participation, Transparency and Open Government of Madrid City Council, Pablo Soto, have presented the protocol signed by the city councils of Alicante, Arona (Tenerife), Benalmádena (Málaga), Buenos Aires (Argentina), Buñol, Cádiz, Calvià (Mallorca), Carreño (Asturias), Castellón, Chiloeches (Guadalajara), Ciempozuelos, A Coruña, Getafe, Golmayo (Soria), Huesca, Mendoza (Argentina), Nariño (Colombia), Oviedo, Palma (Mallorca), Pamplona, Rivas Vaciamadrid, Sitges, Talamanca del Jarama, Tarragona, Toledo, San Sebastián de los Reyes, Valdemorillo and Valencia. Also the city council of Gran Canaria, the Consell de Mallorca, the council of Valencia and the Complutense University of Madrid.
