The participants presented before the Mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, and the Insular Director of Dependència del Consell de Mallorca and Vice-president of the Observatori de Persones Majors de Mallorca, Regina Moll, the problems they have to face with in their daily life and the possible solutions, which they have been debating and analysing in the meetings they have held.

Eight issues have been put on the table for discussion:

Today, they have presented some proposals and suggestions such as: encourage volunteering amongst the young people, offer services at home as psychological support to avoid loneliness, carry out actions to encourage coexistence between different generations, establish a specific telephone for elderly people in the Town Hall, promote civility actions (noise, speeding of cars, etc.), improving municipal information addressed to the elderly and public transport, investing in public protected housing, install more toilets in public areas, placing anti-sonic barriers, provide more police presence, hold conversation workshops to learn languages and cognitive stimulation, amongst many other proposals that both Ajuntament and Consell de Mallorca have collected.

The Mayor thanked the proposals of the people who have participated in the project. He has committed to 'do the homework' and to continue working so that life in Calvià gets better and better. He advanced that they are already working in some of the proposals such as a mobility plan and with the Regional Government for when the current public transport administrative concession expires, and stressed that in January will begin to operate the Community Police, closer to the citizen and with officers highlighted by zones. After hearing the conclusions drawn by the people participating in the project, the Mayor and the Insular Director have handed out diplomas to the participants.

The purpose of this project is to establish an information system to know and analyse the reality and the psychosocial and economic needs of the elderly, to reorient and formulate proposals for improvement in the different administrations and entities that offer attention and support to this group of people.

The Programme's first edition was held in the area of Son Ferrer and next year it will continue in other areas of the municipality.
