THE TOWN HALL OF CALVIÀ INCREASES THE INVESTMENT EFFORT IN PROGRAMMES AND SERVICES IN SCHOOLS

The Town Hall of Calvià, through the IMEB (Institut Municipal d'Educació i Biblioteques), increases the investment effort for the next year for the programmes and services it develops in school support, such as REIP, CREC, CUC, or extracurricular activities and summer classes.

The Educational Reinforcement Programme for children and primary education (REIP), increases its budget by 9%, so it will have a total of 145,350 euros, which will allow, amongst others, passing from 3 to 5 teachers to offer this service that in previous years was covered by scholarship recipients, in addition to continuing with the Language Support service for newly arrived students, that began the second in four-month period of the previous year.

The CREC (Educational Reinforcement Centres) will pass from 10 to 14 teachers and the increase of extending opening hours will eliminate the waiting lists of the centres, as well as more individualised attention as groups will have lower ratios. The CREC will have in 2017 a budget of 367,470 euros, which is 26% more than the previous year.

The CUC (University Centre of Calvià) for the academic year 2016/2017 has initiated new programmes to promote access and continuity to higher education. Some of the new actions are: extension of the group workshops of vocational orientation, days of vocational orientation and reception of European volunteers, amongst others.

In regard to extracurricular activities, those offered to AMIPAS in 2016/2017 have been expanded, multiplying the number of students in the 11 CEIP of the municipality that have increased from 463 in the 2014/2015 academic year to 759 in the 2015/2016 one. The activities budget for the current course is 80,524 euros, an increase of 61.5% compared to 2014/2015, when the budget was 49,842 euros.

Summer Classes will count in 2017 with a budget of 85,000 euros, which is 37% more than the previous year, in which the number of participating students increased by 33% (from 1,090 to 1,454) .

In addition, new projects have been added, such as the School Radio Escolar programme in the 11 CEIP and 3 IES of Calvià, entitled "14 en antena", and the Emotional Education Programme (TEI) "Calvià, municipi creatiu", amongst others.
