THE VOTING PHASE OF THE PARTICIPATORY BUDGETING IN WHICH 21 PROPOSALS HAVE OVERCOME THE PROCESS HAS NOW FINALISED

In total, these proposals add up to 345,900 euros

The first participatory budgeting implemented by Calvià Town Hall has completed the voting phase, in which 21 of the 32 viable proposals, on which the citizenship of the municipality has been pronounced, have surpassed the process.

These 21 proposals sum up a total of 345,900 euros (the maximum budget for this year is 350,000 euros). Amongst these, there are 3 that reach the maximum of 30,000 euros that could be proposed per project and that request the refurbishment of certain points such as the picnic area of Son Ferrer, the installation of exercise machines in the Passeig Calvià, or the reconditioning of a parking for the Galatzó residential area fairgrounds.

The most voted, refer to: feline sterilisation topics and improvements in animal protection issues, as well as the proposal to subsidise night transport at weekends for the youth of the municipality, holding a Roller Skate event, improvements in the camí Vell de Galatzó - the one that goes directly from es Capdellà to the public estate -, or the construction of ramps in the park of Cala Vinyes roundabout for the practice of skateboarding.

In all, 1,101 votes have been registered. All those people registered in the municipality of Calvià, over 16 years old, have been able to vote in the Participatory Budgeting.

The voting process began last 1
st December with the entry into operation of the platform www.participacalvia.es. 79 proposals were submitted, of which 32 were accepted by the Technical Commission, since they fulfilled the requirements established in the project: to be a Calvià resident, the proposal submitted should be competency of the Town Hall, must be viable, must not contravene the current legislation, must not coincide with initiatives that are already underway or are already planned by the Town Hall, and must have a lower cost than the allocated budget (30,000 euros).

The area of Citizen Participation and Youth has been the one that has coordinated the process in collaboration with the different technical departments of the areas involved. The Deputy Mayor, Fernando Alcaraz, has pointed out that, once the voting process has been completed, the proposals will be analysed to begin its implementation. The municipal government team values positively the participation of the citizens in the first edition of this process that responds to one of the commitments of the investiture agreements, with the assurance that the participation of the neighbours will increase in the next calls given the response that has been given.
