CALVIÀ TOWN HALL HAS HOSTED AN INTERNATIONAL MEETING TO TRAIN YOUTH PROFESSIONALS IN THE ORGANISATION OF YOUTH EXCHANGES IN THE FRAMEWORK OF ERASMUS+ PROGRAMMES
The course has taken place in the municipal youth premises of Es Generador
Calvià Town Hall's Department of Citizen Participation and Youth hosted from 17th to 22nd April in the youth centre of Es Generador an international meeting to train youth professionals in the organisation of youth exchanges, within the framework of the Erasmus + programme organised by Gestión Foundation and Social Participation.
The participants come from 8 countries, including youth technicians from the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Spain, Estonia, Holland, Italy, Bulgaria, France and the United Kingdom. Amongst the participants there were also three young people from the Balearic Islands, who previously participated in European exchanges, two of them from the municipality of Calvià.
The international training course "How to organise a good youth exchange and adapt it to new technologies" arises from the need to have a pool of free time instructors and free time directors trained to accompany as ''youth leaders'' young people participating in an international youth exchange.
This meeting allows the youth to have a first international experience in which they can experience what it means to live in an intercultural context and to work in an international team, in addition this training activity that is developed in English, provides them the keys to organise a good international youth exchange and the possibility to accompany as a ''youth leader'' a group of young people in a youth exchange in line with the philosophy of the Erasmus + programme.
A fair of European youth organisations took place on Friday 21st April, in which young people from Calvià were able to share with the Youth Leaders of the different countries what it means to participate in an international youth exchange, and informative sessions were held on youth exchanges in different spaces of Es Generador.
Subsequently, the Deputy Mayor for Citizen Participation and Youth, Fernando Alcaraz presented the Youthpass certificates that accredit the participants in the course as leaders to accompany European exchange processes. The event was also attended by the general director of Participation and Youth, José Francisco Giménez.
This collaboration with Gestión Foundation and Social Participation is framed within the work carried out from the General Directorate of Citizen Participation and Youth to promote cooperation and participation of the municipality of Calvià in European programmes and internationally, so that the youth of the municipality may have greater access and opportunities for their development at European level.
