END OF THE THREE-YEAR TERM FOR BUSINESSES TO ADAPT THE SOUND LIMITERS ESTABLISHED BY THE MUNICIPAL ORDINANCE

The term that businesses had to adapt the sound limiters established by the municipal Ordinance ends this week. The installation of limiters is included in the municipal Ordinance for the protection of the environment against noise and vibration pollution, approved in 2014. The second transitional provision states that "Limiting equipment currently installed and authorised must adapt its characteristics to the requirements of this Ordinance within a maximum period of three years from the date of this amendment, "so establishments have had a period of three years to adapt to the new limiters whose characteristics are set out in the article 45 of the municipal Ordinance. The Calvià Town Hall estimates that more than 40 per cent of leisure establishments have adapted the sound limiters set out by the regulations.

The adaptation to the new limiters does not modify, in any case, the limit of decibels allowed, simply the standard approved three years ago obliges to install devices that, amongst other characteristics, have a verification system that allows to detect possible manipulations of both musical and limiting equipment (Art 45).

Facing the imminent end of the three-year term that the regulation offered to businesses for their adaptation, Calvià Town Hall recalls that the establishments must comply with the regulations and the consistory has the obligation to enforce them.

The Calvià Town Hall must ensure the coexistence of residential and leisure spaces. The ultimate objective is to make possible the enjoyment of leisure while preserving the life quality and well-being of the neighbours and their right to rest.
