THE CALVIÀ TOWN HALL PRESENTS THE BEACH SUMMER OPERATION OF THE DIFFERENT MUNICIPAL SERVICES
The Local Police of Calvià counts this year as novelty with 4 Segway vehicles to patrol by the beaches of Peguera and Magaluf
This year, the Calvià Town Hall has advanced the start of the season activity in the main beaches of the municipality with the assembly of facilities and services in the first half of March so that these could begin to operate. In mid-March, 20% of the hammocks and umbrellas began to be installed on the beaches of Oratori, Cala Contesa, Carregador, Palmanova, Son Maties, Magaluf, Santa Ponça, Torà and Palmira until 1st May, date on which 100% of beach services are operational.
Today, the Calvià Town Hall has presented the beach summer operation of the different services of the municipality, which has had, as a novelty, the presentation of the 4 new segway vehicles of the Local Police.
The event was attended by the Mayor Alfonso Rodríguez Badal; the Deputy Mayor for Security and President of Calvià 2000, Andreu Serra; the Deputy Mayor for Tourism, Antonio García Moles; the Councillor of the area of Peguera, Juan Cuadros; the Councillor for Environment, Francisca Muñoz, and the Calvià Police Chief, Justino Trenas.
LOCAL POLICE
The newly created Community Police division is the one in charge of monitoring the beaches of the municipality. To this end, it is intended for 10 agents who, exclusively, will be dedicated to the surveillance of the main beaches of the municipality, and that will be supervised by a subinspector and 4 officers in the different shifts. The other agents of the Community Police division will carry out regular surveillance, as one more of the functions entrusted to cover the supervision of all the beaches in the municipality.
The Local Police of Calvià has, from this year, new vehicles to perform the beach service: 4 segway of recent acquisition that will patrol normally by the beaches of Peguera and Magaluf, thus joining the 2 quads that they have and a support vehicle.
CIVIL PROTECTION
The Civil Protection beach operation is fully activated from 1st May and has the following device:
40 lifeguards in the different beaches of the municipality
Several rescue boats on the beaches
2 rescue boats that cover the coast with 2 skippers and 2 lifeguards
A quick intervention vehicle with 1 supportive lifeguard
2 Resem (zone officials)
2 Beach coordinators
An advanced life support ambulance
The schedule of the public rescue service is as follows:
May: from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
June, July, August and September: from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
October: from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
From 1st May to 31st October, from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m., when there is no rescue service in some time sections, there are reactive rescuers in those beaches and in those of low risk. In the beach of El Toro, from 15th June to 15th September, the surveillance schedule is extended until 7.30 p.m.
In each beach there are indicative signs of the beach rescue service including the schedules for each season.
From 15th March to 1st May, the beaches that have advanced its opening, have had a reactive lifeguard.
CALVIÀ 2000
The beach service of Calvià 2000 has 10 teams, made up of 19 people, who perform tasks of preparation and maintenance of beaches, waste collection and cleaning of walks, access to beaches and coastal points.
In addition to the services of other years, in the season 2017 the following novelties are presented:
Increase of the scouring in second lines of the municipality
Launch of the Immediate Intervention special service
Increase of the waste collection service due to increase of activity
One-month advance of waste collection services to hotels
15 days advance of the rest of scheduled services per season
During the high season of 2017 it is expected to hire 115 new workers and increase the usual services of Calvià 2000 in:

Road cleaning:
Increase of mixed sweep services (sweeper plus operators with blower) for reinforcement in tourist areas (5 teams, 16 people)
Entrance of scouring and street washing services (16 teams, 17 people)
Reinforcement of services of collection of bins and cleaning of parks, squares, etc. (6 teams, 12 people)
Other services:
