Agreement of the Regional Ministry of Territory and the Town Hall to take on the Passeig Calvià
Thursday 1st June 2017
THE REGIONAL MINISTRY OF TERRITORY AND THE CALVIÀ TOWN HALL REACH AN AGREEMENT WHICH WILL ALLOW TO TRANSFER THE PASSEIG DE CALVIÀ SECTION WHICH IS STILL OWNED BY THE REGIONAL GOVERNMENT
-The Regional Government will contribute about 500,000 euros to repair the deficiencies which had since its construction
-The works of the Palmanova-Peguera motorway will be transferred shortly to the Consell de Mallorca after the repair works have been carried out and its safety improved
The mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, and the regional minister for Territory, Energy and Mobility, Marc Pons, visited this morning the works of the Palmanova-Peguera motorway and the Passeig de Calvià where they announced the agreement which will allow the Town Hall to take on the promenade's section between Cala Figuera and Peguera and to amend the deficiencies with an important contribution of the Conselleria (Regional Ministry) close to 500,000 euros.
Rodríguez Badal has highlighted the joint work carried out by the Regional Government and the Town Hall to, on the one hand, repair the motorway to Peguera, which had deficiencies since its construction and, on the other, the definitive commitment to transfer the Passeig de Calvià to the municipal administration, which will allow -he highlighted- this section to have the same quality as the rest, and therefore, the neighbours of the affected areas will be able to enjoy the promenade in the same conditions.
On his part, regional minister Marc Pons recalled that the Palmanova-Peguera motorway is the only road that is owned by the Regional Government and can now be taken over by the Consell thanks to the improvement works that have allowed to amend the deficiencies that it accumulated and that have been carried out by the company that did the first work. Marc Pons has pointed out that a problem that has been going on for 10 years that generated security problems has been solved. As he pointed out, the main work is finished and there are only a few things that will be solved once the season ends. When the work is completed, he added, it can be transferred to the Consell de Mallorca and the agreement with the Town Hall to transfer the Passeig de Calvià can be signed. The Mayor said that this section of the promenade will be renewed, and that the works are expected to begin in winter.
The visit was also attended by the councillors of the areas of Santa Ponça, Nati Francés, Peguera, Juan Cuadros, and the councillor of Cala Figuera, Alfonso Molina, as well as the general director of Mobility and Transport, Jaume Mateu.
