The dynamic agents of Calvià Town Hall collaborate in the information campaign to improve the presentation of waste in "P Zones"

The seven zone dynamic agents of the municipality collaborate with the information campaign of Calvià 2000, to avoid the abandonment of cardboard and other waste in first lines of coastline or "P Zones" of Calvià. These agents, whose work is to serve as a link between the citizens and the responsibles of the Town Hall, have visited this week the streets of the beaches of Santa Ponça, Peguera, Magaluf and Palmanova, visiting shops and restaurants and informing them of the timetable in which cardboard, glass and waste can be taken out to the public way.

These agents, after training on the subject in the offices of Calvià 2000, have distributed to the staff of these establishments leaflets with the complete information on the carton collection system in these areas, and have answered to numerous questions and doubts of the citizenship.

In Summer, Calvià 2000 daily picks up, in first line streets and surroundings, the carton from each establishment's door and it has been recalled the importance of following the waste collection regulations.

In this sense, the dynamic agents have emphasised on the bad image that the accumulation of cardboard for hours gives to the destination, in areas next to the beaches, and have urged companies to respect the presentation schedule.

Likewise, in these areas, between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m., the waste and glass are collected daily from some containers that are owned by each business or restaurant. In this sense, it has also been emphasised the necessary respect of the schedule, and the need to not mix other waste with glass.

This week, staff of the Asociación Restauración de Mallorca has also done an informative work in Peguera, Palmanova and Santa Ponça. These actions are added to those already initiated in April, due to the proliferation of cardboard in public roads of the municipality, which led to a 57% increase in claims.

It is to be recalled that, last April, the first phase of the information campaign was launched, with the collaboration of the Asociación de Comerciantes y Empresas de Servicios Turísticos de Mallorca; the Associació Mallorquina de Cafeteries, Bars i Restaurants; and the Asociación Balear de Ocio Nocturno y Entretenimiento.

With these four associations, Calvià 2000 has signed an agreement for the efficient management of waste collection.

In May, the second phase of the campaign incorporated police reinforcement, with special follow-up in "P zones" by the Local Police, to denounce rubbish on the ground and outside the container, as well as non removed containers after 10 a.m.

This month, the informative action is repeated, this time more intensive and with the collaboration of the dynamic agents. Likewise, the infractions detected are notified to the Local Police.
