The Town Hall reviews the investments made and the future projects in the tourist areas of the municipality

THE CALVIÀ TOWN HALL UNDERTAKES AN OVERVIEW OF THE INVESTMENTS MADE AND THE FUTURE PROJECTS IN THE TOURIST AREAS OF THE MUNICIPALITY
The Mayor of Calvià has met in recent weeks with the hotel associations of Santa Ponça, Peguera-Cala Fornells and Palmanova-Magaluf, with which he has reviewed the actions carried out and the projects planned in these tourist areas, on behalf of the Town Hall and some that have been carried out or that will undertake the Government and the Consell de Mallorca.
Various works are planned, immediately after the end of the tourist season, in Santa Ponça such as: the implementation of the improvement of the rainwater network in Ramon de Montcada; the improvement of the rainwater network and asphalting from el Mirador de las Malgrats (Malgrats viewpoint) to la Via de la Creu and the reform and improvement of el Mirador de las Malgrats.
Another of the works finishing in Santa Ponça immediately after the summer is the replacement and improvement of wastewater pipes, which cost more than 1 million euros, and the reform of the coastal walk to the dock, which will cost 440,000 euros.
Other actions are envisaged in the medium term in Santa Ponça such as: the improvement of sidewalks and lighting of Jaume I avenue - between playa grande (large beach) and el Caló d'en Pellicer; the improvement of the sidewalks in Puig del Teix; the improvement of the passeig Calvià (promenade) between Costa de la Calma and Santa Ponça; and the reform of the PAC of Santa Ponça.
The works in Santa Ponça have already been undertaken to improve the tourist area, such as the asphalting of Jaume I avenue - from the entrance of Santa Ponça to la avenida de la Creu, the reforestation of la Pinada (pinewood), the regeneration of the beach with the sand supply, or the replacement of artificial turf on football fields, amongst others.
Regarding the area of Peguera, urban improvement works will begin immediately after the summer season in Taronger and Pins streets, in which sidewalks and the sewerage system will be reformed, which will cost about 400,000 euros. In addition, in the medium term, it is planned to improve the Palmira beach promenade.
Important improvement works have already been undertaken in this area, such as the one carried out on Eucaliptus Street, which has cost around 800,000 euros; the installation of a water circulation pump on Palmira beach, to alleviate the coloration of green waters due to a micro algae; the improvement of the accessibility and the elimination of a concrete platform that has allowed to gain about 300 metres of sand in Torá beach; or improving the accessibility and installation of bathrooms on the beach of La Romana.
As already reported, this coming winter, in the tourist area of Palmanova-Magaluf it is expected, amongst others, the improvement of Galió St. whose project is already drafted, as well as performances in sports facilities; and the improvement of the surroundings of Torrenova, Martín Ros García and Punta Ballena streets is under study.
With regard to Palmanova, there are also plans to improve the square of Punta Nadala, which are being defined, and the areas of Pere Vaquer and Cas Saboners.
The mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, who will soon meet with the rest of the hotel associations of the municipality, highlights the important investments that have been made and will be carried out in these tourist areas, above all, with own investment and that will also have 5% of hotel investments and others, and hopes that, in the very near future, mature tourist municipalities like Calvià can again have the support and help from the State.
