CLOSURE-PROFESSIONAL DEMONSTRATION OF IFOC'S RESTAURANT SERVICES COURSE STUDENTS
The 350-hour professional itinerary of the RESTAURANT SERVICES course has been completed at the premises of the IFOC, the Training and Employment Institute of Calvià.
From February to the present, a global of 25 students have been participating in the various training modules aimed at training quality catering staff: restaurant services, preparation and finishing of dishes in sight of the client, tasting and wine-pairing, cocktails-drinks and special services in catering (event service) are a summary of the intense work done during these 4 months of daily and uninterrupted classes from 9 a.m.to 2 p.m.
The IFOC considers that the best cover letter of its students is that companies can know first hand their professional skills, thus more than 60 people and entrepreneurs of the municipality participated in an event, where participants prepared a full tasting menu.
The project, framed within the SOIB's vocational training programme for the employment, has 100% municipal financing of around € 30,000. In the coming months, the general itinerary will be completed with modules of: professional English for catering services (90 hours), safety, hygiene and environmental protection in hotels (60 hours) and professional internships in companies (80 hours), performances that are open to any interested person of the municipality.
The deputy mayor for Economy, Employment and Innovation, Mamen Iglesias; the IFOC vice-president, Alfonso Rodríguez Sánchez; the corporation's manager, Cristóbal Milan; and the IFOC's manager, Darío Espallargas, accompanied this group of students on such a special day, to wish them luck in the new path they undertake.
