CHALLENGE PEGUERA MALLORCA SOLD OUT WITH ONE THOUSAND PARTICIPANTS FOR THE 2017 EDITION

The international triathlon sells out its registrations two months before the event, on 14th October.
The event increases in participation over last year in 150 people.
Challenge Peguera Mallorca will count with the best distance athletes.

There are 60 days left for Challenge Peguera Mallorca, the international half distance triathlon that will take place in Peguera on 14th October, and the registrations to the race have been sold out. The organization had put 1,000 registrations on sale, 150 more than in the previous edition in which they were also sold out. On this occasion, the poster of "fully booked" hangs a month earlier than in previous editions and with a greater number of participants, confirming the good acceptance of this competition amongst international athletes and consolidating the event as one of the best End of season European sports offers.

Interest data on participation 2017:
Increase in participation close to 20% over the 2016 edition and 57% compared to 2015.
More than 85% of the participants in the race are foreigners
There will be 32 nationalities represented in the event
More than 3,000 visitors between relatives and triathletes during the week of the event
It is estimated that the estimated economic impact will be close to 2 million euros
The older participant in the test is 81 years old.

The race:
The race begins with the swimming segment in the central and spectacular Torà beach. The participants will face 1.9 km in the sea of the Peguera bay. From there, they will access the transition, located 150 metres from the beach.
The cycling circuit consists of going round a 45 km route twice, passing through some of the most beautiful landscapes of Calvià and Mallorca and that combines mountain, natural landscapes at the foot of the Serra de Tramuntana (UNESCO World Heritage), traditional villages, coast , some of the best known tourist resorts in Europe and popular beaches on the island.
The race on foot is 21 km and it goes for times round a circuit that alternates the Boulevard de Peguera and its beach promenades. The athletes will pass fur times the finish line. A very interesting and a flatter route than in previous years.

A global experience
The objective with the organisation of this international event is to bring together a large number of athletes and family members in Calvià so that they can enjoy a few days an event that goes beyond a high level sports competition. Therefore, the organization has prepared a programme of activities that include different proposals related to local culture, music, gastronomy, etc.
