INFORMATION NOTE FROM THE LOCAL POLICE OF CALVIÀ


THREE ALLEGED THIEVES ARE DETAINED FOR A CRIME OF THEFT WITH VIOLENCE IN THE AREA OF PUNTA BALLENA

 

The Local Police of Calvià detains after a chase with taxi three men for stealing a woman in Magaluf with violence and throwing her to the ground. The events took place yesterday at three in the morning at the confluences of Punta Ballena and Martín Ros García.

The six agents of the Local Police of Calvià who patrolled by foot through the nightlife area of Punta Ballena observed a man running and entering in the back part of a car which had the engine on and was ready to go.
 

The vehicle, with driver and companion, quickly accelerated to flee at high speed. This attitude aroused suspicions and three of the policemen went to the intersection where necessarily the escaping car had to pass. Then the agents asked a taxi to chase the fled in direction to Son Matias Avenue. Meanwhile, another patrol was waiting at Palmanova entrance roundabout to close the way to the car with the alleged thieves, where they were finally arrested. 

Meanwhile, the other three agents came alerted by the shouts of "Police, police!" and helped the two women who were crying. One of their handbags had been stolen with the pull technique while they were walking on Pinada Street. The pull was so violent that the woman fell to the ground. The women asked for help, and a man and themselves began to chase the thief, as confirmed by an eyewitness. 

The alleged thief, when intimidated, got rid of the bag and continued the race and just happened to pass in front of the agents of the Local Police of Calvià.
