CALVIÀ TOWN HALL INVESTS 3 MILLION EUROS TO IMPROVE PALMANOVA, SANTA PONÇA AND TORRENOVA

A stage will be built and 136 parking spaces will be enabled in Palmanova. 1,500 metres of sidewalks will be remodelled in the remaining areas.

Calvià Town Hall has put out on tender the drafting of four projects to improve and beautify three tourist areas during the off-season in order to offer better facilities for residents and visitors, with the aim of increasing accessibility and mobility measures for all users.

The Palmanova project has an initial budget of 1million euros for the beautification and reorganisation of the streets and the green areas of París and Germans Pinzón streets. The sidewalks will be of the same type of pavement that is currently on the Paseo Calvià (beach promenade), as well as wider and more accessible. Specifically, the width will be of 1'60m where there is parallel parking and of 4m where there are urban trees. In the green area, trees will be planted and 136 parking spaces will be enabled. Next to said car park, a stage with capacity for 173 people will be constructed and a playground will be installed with adapted swings to play with and for the children's integration. Roads will also be paved, the overhead lines will be buried and the street lamps will be replaced to work with LEDs.

In reference to the area of Santa Ponça, its urban growth makes it necessary to carry out several actions in its streets, both for road traffic and for pedestrians. This requires two actions: one at Puig des Teix and the other at Avenida Rei Jaume I.

600 linear metres of pedestrian areas will be remodelled in Gran Vía Puig des Teix with a guideline budget of 980,000 euros, where special emphasis will be placed on changing tiles and eliminating obstacles that hinder the transit of people.  It will also be illuminated with led lights, overhead lines will be buried, and tiles will be laid for blind people.

Also in Santa Ponça, the 650 linear-metre-sidewalk will be improved and remodelled in Avenida Rei Jaume I, between Lisboa St. and Caló d'en Pellicer, with a planned investment of half a million euros. Works will be carried out on leveling sidewalks, tree-planting, elevating pedestrian crossings and improving public lighting.

Finally, several improvements will be carried out in 300 linear metres of Martí Ros de Torrenova street, to which will be destined about 475.000 €. These are leveling tasks to increase accessibility, tasks to coat the pavement to be non-slip and improvements tasks in lighting.
