PRESENTATION OF THE GENERAL URBAN PLANNING OF CALVIÀ PREVIEW PROPOSAL

The proposal includes the declassification of 86.01 hectares of urban land, the protection of all the rural land of the municipality and the proposal of 4 new large parks representing a total of almost 1 million square metres

It is foreseen that the PGOU of Calvià Preview proposal will be taken to the Plenary session of October for its two-month public exposure, so that contributions can be made. Mayor Alfonso Rodríguez Badal and the general director of Urban Planning, Housing and Environment, Jaume Carbonero, have presented the main lines of the Plan's Preview that focuses on acting on existing urban fabrics and not on new growth, the incorporation of environmental criteria, as well as to forecast zero growth on the coastline.

Alfonso Rodríguez Badal explained that the revision of the PGOU of Calvià responds to the commitment reached in the investiture agreements and to the need to organise the municipality from a global vision, and not from specific changes.

The proposal icludes the declassification of 86,01 hectares of urban land, and all the rustic land of the municipality comes to have some type of protection.

In addition, it proposes the creation of 4 new large urban or peri-urban parks that will involve about one million square metres of free space in direct relation to urban areas, with great human pressure.

The Preview includes both urban and environmental proposals and strategic actions in the different areas of the municipality, as well as improvements in the general road structure, in the public transport network and in the purification, sanitation, rainwater network and drinking water infrastructures.

The Mayor has also highlighted the proposal regarding protected public housing. Apart from the 3 Land Strategic Reserves that exist in Calvià for the construction of vpo (officially protected housing), the Plan's Preview includes a urban land in the well-known triangle of Son Bugadelles, in which it proposes the construction of about 800 protected homes in an eco-neighbourhood.
