GOOD WELCOME OF THE IDENTIFICATION AND NEUTERING CAMPAIGN OF DOMESTIC CATS IN CALVIÀ
The campaign promoted by the Town Hall has been carried out jointly with all the veterinary clinics of the municipality and with the collaboration of the Official College of Veterinarians of the Balearic Islands
The campaign to identify and neuter domestics cat in Calvià, which has been carried out from 15th September to 15th December 2017, has been well accepted by cat owners who have been able to identify and neuter their pets thanks to reduced prices.
This initiative promoted by the Town Hall of Calvià has been carried out thanks to the collaboration and contributions of all the veterinary clinics of the municipality. The first results of the campaign show a great welcome in that, according to the data provided by some of the veterinary clinics, it is estimated that it will have been possible to identify and neuter around 150 domestic cats.
The campaign was intended, on the one hand, to raise awareness about the importance of identifying and neutering pets, to reduce abandonment and avoid health and behavioral problems, and on the other hand to comply with the new municipal ordinance on welfare and tenure of animals that live in the human environment, approved in March 2017, which requires owners of cats that have access to public spaces to their identification and neutering, as stipulated in article 3 of the ordinance.
