URBAN WORKS IN PROGRESS AND FINISHED IN THE TOURIST AND RESIDENTIAL AREA OF MAGALUF

This winter are being carried out, throughout the municipality, actions in first and second lines to remodel, reorder and refurbish urban roads and improve infrastructures and leisure areas

This winter several urban works are being undertaken in the municipality of Calvià, to improve different infrastructures in both tourist and residential areas, both on the seafront and in more interior areas.

In the second and third lines of Magaluf, various actions are underway, one of which will transform an area that includes tourist and residential areas. This is the remodeling of Galió St.-a cross street to the sea-, in which a work is being carried out that will turn this road, which is in the second line, into a "friendly"and walkable street in which traffic and pedestrians coexist, giving a greater protagonism to these last ones.

The works, awarded for 834,343.39 euros, consist of turning the street into a road with a large landscaped space, with small recreational areas, leaving a width of 3 free metres on both sides of the street, for the passage of vehicles, with a central draining and landscaped space with rest areas. Native species will be planted in the garden area, respecting the existing trees. The urban furniture will consist mainly of benches, beacons and other elements throughout the route, alternating with the trees. In addition, the necessary infrastructures are made to underground existing air lines.

In parallel, Calvià 2000 carries out the works of the new sewage collector on Avda. de l'Olivera. This work is part of the strategic objective of renewing the sanitation network, performing very localised actions to replace sections of obsolete networks or with structural problems that prevent their proper functioning. The action presents a special interest, since it is integrated into the reorganisation plan for sanitation networks that will reduce the volume of residual water transported to the first line drives, thereby reducing overload and risks of breakdown. The budget of the investment is 77.246 euros.

The mayor, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, accompanied by the deputy mayor of Roads and Works, Juan Cuadros, and the councillor of the area of Magaluf, Alfonso Molina, have verified this morning the progress of the works of Magaluf, and have visited a performance recently completed:

the reorganisation and improvement of the playground located between Lope de Vega street and the Martinique tourist complex.

The playground is located right in the tourist area of Magaluf, and had a number of shortcomings.
The reform has consisted of dividing the park - of 3,150 m2 - into different leisure and playing areas. New elements have been installed, such as a circuit of fitness equipment designed mainly for elderly people, on top of an artificial turf surface; a picnic area has been set up with adapted tables and benches, all adapted to people with reduced mobility; new benches and a pergola have been installed to provide the public park with a shaded area. The playgrounds have been reorganised, by installing rubber floors, a new element (a macro net with slide) and a swing adapted to minors with reduced mobility. This action was awarded for 126,076.18 euros.
