The international youth football tournament which has been presented this morning, will gather, from 28th March to 1st April, a representation of the best teams in the country
The third edition of the Santa Ponça Cup International Youth Football Tournament, which will be held from 28th March to 1st April at the Santa Ponça Sports Centre, was presented this morning at Calvià Town Hall.
On those days, there will be a representation of the best youth football teams in Spain, the most outstanding teams of the Balearic Islands and international teams that will participate in a tournament that is being consolidated in the wide and varied sports calendar of the municipality. In total there will be 40 (U12 and U10) teams.
In the presentation, the mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, stressed that the quality offered by the tournament the previous two years is what has led the Town Hall to continue supporting this event whose collaboration, for Calvià, is an investment, not only in the tournament itself for the opportunity to promote the values, associated with sport, but also in the positioning of the Santa Ponça brand as a tourist destination at the end of March, since more than 3,000 overnight stays are expected during those days.
On their part, the directors of the tournament, Tomás Gibert and Manu Chancla, have thanked all the collaborators and sponsors of the event for their commitment to this third edition of the Santa Ponça Cup which, they have highlighted, is an important challenge that tries to overcome year after year. Finally, the vice president of the Balearic Football Federation, Manuel López Lacal, highlighted the meeting in which sport is above all.
The event began with a video to support the tournament of the former referee Rafa Guerrero, and Miquel Àngel Moyà, current goalkeeper of the Real Sociedad, and sponsor of this year's event.
