PRESENTATION OF THE XI EDITION OF THE MOSTRA DE CUINES DE CALVIÀ

It will take place every Friday during the month of April in different areas of the municipality

The presentation of a new edition of the Mostra de Cuines de Calvià (Gastronomic Display of Calvià) took place this morning in the gardens of the Town Hall. At the presentation, which was attended by the mayor, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, and members of the Municipal Corporation, the chef Matias Provvidenti, with his signature cuisine style with notable Asian influences, has made a show cooking in which they have elaborated a "Mediterrasian-style red tuna tartar and pine nuts".

The mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, pointed out that the Mostra is a bet that allows, on the one hand, to boost the different areas of the municipality at the beginning of the season, and, on the other, to make known the quality gastronomic offer that is offered in Calvià both to the people who visit the municipality and to the residents themselves.

The Mostra, which has the collaboration of Makro, will take place every Friday in April in the different areas in which the municipality has been divided. The participating establishments serve a full menu at popular prices (12, 14 or 16 euros), and several of them also offer other options such as children's menu, alternative menu, vegetarian menu or gluten-free alternative menu. 54 restaurants participate in this edition.

With the idea of making the Mostra de Cuines an event that can be enjoyed by the greatest number of people, restaurants have been encouraged to offer alternative menus (always at the same price), children's menus so that entire families can go, gluten-free menus and, as a novelty this year, also vegetarian menus. The Mostra de Cuines de Calvià, with the current format, was born in 2008 with the intention of making known the varied and exquisite cuisine that the municipality has, and is organised every Friday during the month of April, coinciding with the start of the tourist season.

Matias N. Provvidenti

This creative Argentinean-born chef has it clear: the secret of the dishes is the texture and quality of the products. With his signature cuisine style with notable Asian influences, he applies much of the knowledge acquired during his professional training and during his four years in Barcelona (where he worked in renowned restaurants). He has continued his training visiting many Asian countries (Japan, the Philippines, India, etc.) and Latin America. Matías creates his dishes including vegetarian elements and playing with the textures, flavours and colours of the land, the sea and the air.

The result is dishes of a careful presentation and with explosive flavours. He is currently leading the UMI Mallorca project in the Port Adriano facilities, which will open its doors in May.
