CALVIÀ RECEIVES 304.791 € TO HELP FAMILIES AT RISK

The Ajuntament and the IMAS consolidate their collaboration with the signing of an agreement that guarantees the improvement of social care

The mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, and the president of the Institut Mallorquí d'Afers Socials (IMAS), Margalida Puigserver, have signed an agreement to help families at risk, whereby the Ajuntament receives 304,791 euros for the years 2018 and 2019. In this way, the improvement of social attention is guaranteed and the grants and collaboration of the IMAS with Calvià are consolidated.

The agreement includes two lines of action. The first one, to develop projects of psychosocial support and intervention in childhood and family, for which an amount of 135,237.78 euros have been allocated. The second line focuses on the assistance to families with children at social risk and to people in situations of serious and urgent need, and amounts to 169,553.68€. Both projects contribute to the improvement of the management of social services in favour of the most needy population, at the same time that they favour the prevention work of the risk situations and of more serious crises avoiding that the situations detected worsen.

Last year, Calvià joined for the first time the project of psychosocial support and intervention in childhood and family at risk, since previously only municipalities of less than 20,000 inhabitants could join. The novelty of this year is that the agreement is biennial, instead of being annual as it was last year that Calvià received 149,500 euros.

The signing event was attended by the deputy mayor for Social Cohesion and Equality, Nati Francés, and the councillor for Social Welfare and the Senior Citizens, Mayte Albertí.
