MALLORCA OPEN PRESENTATION IN SANTA PONÇA

The facilities of the Mallorca Open in Santa Ponça, which will host the International Women's Tournament from 17
th June, have been today the scenario of the Mallorca Open - WTA Tennis Tournament presentation, which has been attended by the mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, along with the director of the Tournament, Toni Nadal; the tennis player Conchita Martínez, and the chefs Macarena de Castro and Santi Taura, amongst others.

The Mayor of Calvià congratulated the organisation for the "extraordinary poster" with which the Mallorca Open of Santa Ponça is presented this year. Alfonso Rodríguez Badal has highlighted the importance of holding this type of events in the area because they help to position a municipality like Calvià and a destination like Santa Ponça on the map, linking it with quality events and the binomial tourism-sport.

He also commented on the impact both direct and indirect of the tournament which this year celebrates its third edition, and the relationship that has been sought this year with the social fabric of the municipality as it is expected that more than 600 students from the schools of Calvià will pass through the facilities during the days of competition.

In this edition, tennis players from the likes of Caroline García and Anastasija Sevastova - the winners of the first two editions -, Angelique Kerber, a German number one and two times Grand Slam champion; the Spanish Carla Suárez, or Victoria Azarenka, also champion of two Grand Slam and former world number one, will participate in the Mallorca Open of Santa Ponça.
