Calvià 2000 renews the selective collection containers of both Galatzó residential estate and Costa de la Calma
Calvià 2000 has renewed all the selective collection containers -14 containers in 7 collection points- in the Galatzó residential estate, and soon will do the same in Costa de la Calma, where 58 containers will be installed in 29 collection points.
The renovation affects the 3,200-litre containers for the packaging and paper-cardboard selective collection. These are 3,200-litre side loading containers, which have the certificate of compliance with the universal accessibility standard UNE 170001, such as those installed at Son Ferrer last April.
The selective container replacement plan, which started this year, will continue until 2021 in different phases. The next one, will be carried out between the end of 2018 and the beginning of 2019, affecting the areas of Cas Català, Bendinat, Illetes, Costa d'en Blanes and Portals Nous. In a third phase, throughout 2019, the ones of Cala Vinyes, Peguera, Cala Fornells, Calvià village, es Capdellà and el Toro will be renewed. By 2020, the selective containers from Son Caliu, Cas Saboners, sa Porrassa, Palmanova, Magaluf and Sol de Mallorca will be replaced, while in Santa Ponça they will be renewed in 2021. In total, almost 1,000 new paper-cardboard and packaging containers will have been placed, with a total cost of approximately 1.2 million euros.
Universal accessibility
The universal accessibility conditions certified in the UNE 170001 standard refer to the condition that environments and products must meet to be understandable and usable by all people in safety and comfort conditions and in the most autonomous and natural way possible.
In this sense, for instance, the containers installed have lower mouths that can be reached more easily by children or elderly people. In addition, the new containers have a surface that allows the identification of each fraction for people with visual disabilities.
