AGREEMENT WITH THE PROJECTE HOME FOUNDATION TO RECOVER PEOPLE WITH ADDICTION TO TOXIC SUBSTANCES

The agreement establishes a commitment to promote the addicts personal development and adequate integration into society

The Calvià Town Hall and Projecte Home have signed a collaboration agreement for the Foundation to carry out therapeutic and social reintegration projects. The mayor, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, and the representative of Projecte Home Balears, Jesús Mullor Román, signed an agreement this morning granting a subsidy of € 18,000 to the social initiative entity. The funds will have to be justified to the local administration before the end of the year 2019.

The deputy mayor for Social Cohesion, Nati Francés, and the councillor for Social Services, Mayte Albertí, were also present during the event. With the signing of the agreement, the Calvià Town Hall supports the therapeutic and social reintegration activities organised by Projecte Home for 31 years in the Balearics. It should be borne in mind that in 2017, the Drug Addiction Attention Centre operating in Calvià treated 295 cases related to addictions, of which 82 were new cases. The most common drug addictions are related to the consumption of alcohol (120) and heroin (92).

In Calvià attention is paid to people with addictions to psychoactive substances at:

a) Social Services - Drug addiction prevention technique. Individual, family and community care (prevention workshops at the CEIP (primary education schools) and IES (obligatory secondary education schools)).

b) Drug Addiction Attention Centre (CAD). IMAS service located in the Palmanova Health Centre.
