THE MAYOR OF CALVIÀ AND THE REGIONAL GOVERNMENT'S DIRECTOR GENERAL OF OCCUPATION AND ECONOMY CLOSE THREE MIXED TRAINING AND EMPLOYMENT PROGRAMMES, WHICH HAVE ALLOWED THE HIRING OF 44 PEOPLE IN GARDENING, FOREST ACTIVITIES AND MOUNTAIN GUIDE PROJECTS
After 9 months of apprenticeship and work, 44 people have benefited from the 'SOIB JOVE' and the 'SOIB30' training and employment programmes, managed by the Calvià Town Hall through the Employment and Training Service of Calvià (IFOC), the first financed by the Employment Service of the Balearic Islands (SOIB) with the participation of the Public State Employment Service (SEPE) and the co-financing of the European Social Fund (FSE); and the second financed by the Employment Service of the Balearic Islands (SOIB) and with funds from the LXIV Sectoral Conference on Employment and Labour Issues.
During this year, the Calvià Town Hall has managed 4 of these training and employment programmes: the 'SOIB JOVE Training and Employment' for under 30 year-old people, beneficiaries of the Youth Guarantee programme and the 'SOIB30 Training and Employment' for people over 30, all of them unemployed. Today is the closing ceremony of three of the programmes.
SOIB JOVE Training and Employment:
- "Senda", with 11 participants, 4 professionals hired. It has been dedicated to the training of low and high mountain guides, it has worked in close collaboration with the Environment, Heritage and ICE areas, developing their work in the different paths of the municipality, giving support to visitors, as well as making other collaborations in different sporting events.
- "Bosc Urbà", with 12 participants and 3 professionals hired. It has trained the students in collaboration with the Calvià Town Hall's Maintenance and Environment Departments, dedicating to the learning of 2 professionalism certificates associated with the 'forest assistant' professional profile, as to the execution of works in diverse urban areas of the municipality, as well as in the Galatzó public estate.
SOIB30 Training and Employment:
- "Son Ferrer", with 12 participants and 4 professionals hired. It has collaborated with the Maintenance, Environment, Local Police and the Senior Citizens Home of Calvià Departments, developing their work and training in the field of gardening, improving gardened areas of the municipality, mainly in Son Ferrer.
At present, the training and employment project aimed at over 30 year-old people called "Infoverd" is still in operation, until next February.
In order to improve the employability of students, training on labour insertion and job search, awareness raising on equal opportunities and computer literacy specialities have been introduced to the SOIB 30 Training and Employment programme.
Finally, all the participants are registered in the IFOC's Employment Agency so that their labour insertion is as quick and effective as possible. Regarding this point, it is to be highlighted that 23% of the students have found work before the conclusion of their respective projects.
The mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal; the deputy mayor for Social Cohesion and Equality, Nati Francés Gárate; the IFOC manager, Darío Espallargas; and the Regional Government's general director of Employment and Economy, Llorenç Pou, wanted to accompany them in such a special day, and wish them luck in the new path undertaken.
