CALVIÀ SAYS NO TO GENDER VIOLENCE
Various activities have been carried out in the municipality on the occasion of 25N International Day against violence towards women
The Bureau for the prevention, intervention and coordination of the attention to gender violence victims has been set up this week
Various events have been organised in the municipality of Calvià on the occasion of 25N International Day against violence towards women.
The Obligatory Secondary Education Schools of Bendinat, Calvià and Son Ferrer have carried out performances in remembrance of the women and children killed by gender violence in our country during the year 2018.
The Senior Citizens Home of Calvià has also carried out an activity, with the formation of a human bow carried out by residents, users and family members of the Senior Citizens Home and by Calvià citizens, who have also observed a minute's silence after the words of the Mayor, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, in memory of the victims, women and children, and in rejection of gender violence, and in which he talked about the need to raise awareness so that there is no more women murdered.

On the other hand, the Bureau for the prevention, intervention and coordination of the attention to victims of gender violence in Calvià has been set-up this week, as an interdisciplinary work body and coordination tool between politicians, technicians and professionals from different municipal services, to adopt positive action measures and make the women's rights effective and real in the face of gender violence.
The Bureau's establishment was chaired by the Mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, and is consisted of the Local Police, Civil Guard, various departments of the Town Hall (Sports, Education and Libraries, Training and Employment Institute of Calvià, Citizen Participation and Youth, Social Services, Tourism, Culture and Communications), public Nurseries, Pre-education and Primary Education Centres, Obligatory Secondary Education Schools, the Adult School, the Teacher Training Centre of Calvià, IbSalut staff, IbDona, the Insular Directorate of Equality of the Consell de Mallorca, the Government Delegation, Creu Roja and a representative of each municipal political group.
With the aim of promoting, at the municipal level, policies and actions for the eradication of sexist violence, two sub-commissions have been created from the Bureau, a specific one to elaborate proposals regarding the prevention of sexist violence, and the subcommission of intervention and coordination of attention to gender violence victims, that already exists in Calvià since 2011 and that will continue with the work to improve the attention to women who suffer violence.
