MAYOR OF CALVIÀ HEARING WITH THE PRESIDENT OF THE CONSELL DE MALLORCA

The construction of both, the fifth MOT station in Son Bugadelles and a Senior Citizens' Day Centre in the municipality; and waste management marks this first institutional meeting

The mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, has been received in audience this morning by the president of the Consell de Mallorca, Catalina Cladera, in what has been the first contact of both institutions, in this legislature, to address different issues related with the municipality.

One of the issues that the mayor has described as fundamental for Calvià is the location of the fifth MOT (ITV-Vehicle Technical Inspection) station in the Son Bugadelles industrial estate. Soon, the Plenary session will take place in which the General Plan's specific modification will be definitively approved to allow the change of use of the 5,600 m2 plot that has been valued at 650,000 euros. Once the modification has been approved, the Town Hall will carry out the procedures for the acquisition of these lands that will later be transferred to the Consell for the construction of the MOT station. The lands will become part of the municipal public heritage.

The construction of a Senior Citizens' Day Centre in Calvià has also been discussed, specifically in some municipal lands located in Palmanova (near the Municipal Service Centre). The last legislature already established the terms and conditions for the construction of the building, in which Govern, Consell and Town Hall are working and that will sign an agreement to begin the construction. The cost expected is around 800,000 euros, of which the Town Hall will contribute a quarter part, in addition to the lands. Currently, Calvià only has the Senior Citizens' Home Day Centre and the places that a private centre has.

Finally, the president of the Consell de Mallorca has reiterated before the mayor, on the one hand, the commitment of the Consell to solve, as soon as possible, the problem of bad odours caused by the composting plant in Costa de la Calma, as already explained at the meeting held last September between the vice president of the island institution, the deputy mayor and councillor for the Environment of Calvià and neighbours of the area. On the other hand, the commitment to install acoustic barriers in the Son Caliu highway incorporation lane.

The mayor attended the hearing with the first deputy mayor, Nati Francés.
