III CONFERENCE ON PROSTITUTION AND TRAFFICKING IN CALVIÀ

Calvià hosted on 11th and 12th December, the III Conference on prostitution and trafficking organised by Calvià Town Hall, and in which a hundred people participated.

The conference began with the welcome by the mayor, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, who gave way to the Human Rights lawyer Valentina Milano who spoke about the legal and contextual framework of trafficking in human beings: data, trends and the states obligations.

Then, Ibdona's officer, Susana Ortega, explained the Plan for the fight against trafficking in women and girls with sexual exploitation purposes and the approach to prostitution that ended with a roundtable on migration flows and trafficking and in which the specialised entities participated: Casal Petit, Cruz Roja and Médicos del Mundo.

Subsequently, the short film Miente by Isabel de Ocampo was screened, which gave rise to a debate-colloquium, and the day ended with Danza Baar by Proyecto Körper.

On Thursday, the day began with social Microtheatre by Fora Nirvis Teatre, with the theatre play Sabina.

Begoña Vera Guanches, from Oblatas, spoke about the protection of victims of trafficking with sexual exploitation purposes, from a human rights perspective. Realities and challenges. After, the Gender Sociology Professor, Rosa Cobo, authoress of the book 'La prostitución en el corazón del capitalismo' (Prostitution in the heart of capitalism) took part.

The screening of the report 'Prostitution and trafficking': a matter of power, by the journalist Victòria Morell, put an end to the conference closed by the deputy mayor for Social Cohesion, Equality, Communication and Local Police, Nati Francés.
