FIRST MEETING OF THE MUNICIPAL GALATZÓ PUBLIC ESTATE FOLLOW-UP COMMISSION

A 2020-2024 action Plan has been arranged to promote the Estate from the management, training and public use

The Galatzó Public Estate monitoring Committee which is composed of representatives of all political groups represented in the Council, by heads of different departments of the Town Hall, with the Environment Department at the head (Heritage, Roads and Works and Culture, amongst others), as well as the Association of Breeders and Farmers of Calvià, has met today for the first time.

This Commission, chaired by the deputy mayor for Environment and Ecological Transition, Rafel Sedano, has the function of monitoring the Galatzó Estate Master Plan that has been agreed with a 2020-2024 action Plan that has been presented in the meeting, and which focuses on three objectives: to maintain the integral management of the estate at the agricultural, livestock and forestry level; the promotion of the public use of the estate and sustainable rural tourism, and make the estate a future reference as a training centre in environmental and leisure issues addressing the challenges of climate change and ecological transition at the local level.

In addition, Rafel Sedano has informed during the meeting on the improvement actions that are currently being carried out at the estate and the planned projects. Thus, the hydraulic system and the mills are now being restored, and the restoration of the pigsties that will become a Shelter that will be integrated into the Consell de Mallorca Shelter Network is planned. The integral reform of the Galatzó Houses, of the dairy, amongst others, is also planned.
