Calvià celebrates an online edition of the World Book Day
The idea of organising a virtual edition of the World Book Day is that confinement does not leave us without Sant Jordi, since Calvià has a long tradition in the celebration. This year, a series of online activities have been organised from the Calvià Libraries Department so that everyone who wants to can enjoy the day, despite the circumstances.
People visiting the Libraries Department's website on 23rd April (www.bibliotequesdecalvia.com) will be able to take an online tour designed by the illustrator Alex Fito, who will also offer a comic workshop. The Calvià Libraries Department's team will hold another workshop on bookmarks, pins and virtual roses to use as a gift.
The collaborating bookstores (Drac Màgic, Metròpolis and Rata Corner), which will enable an online bookstore, will recommend literary novelties, and the local authors and authoresses Bárbara Montoya, Patricia García, José Antonio Vargas and Catalina Rosselló will present their books.
The World Book Day literary event will be completed with an online photocall to have a souvenir, and a concert. This year, Sant Jordi's Day has as its theme science fiction in honour of the 100 years of the birth of Isaac Asimov, Ray Bradbury and Frank Herbert, author of the Dune saga.
You can find more information on Facebook Bibliotecas de Calvià, where you can also see all the activities that have been taking place during all this time of confinement.
