139 REPORTS FILED IN CALVIÀ FOR DISOBEDIENCE IN THE LAST WEEK

The proposals for fine by the Local Police of Calvià are caused by not complying the estrictions of the state of alarm and not attending the officers indications

The Calvià Local Police officers, in the exercise of their functions of control and monitoring the state of alarm following the guidelines of the Government of Spain, have filed 139 administrative reports during last week. Most are aimed at people who remained in the street without justified cause or because they neither complied with the agreed restrictions nor complied with the instructions of the police officers. During last week, 70 direct complaints were filed, the majority for walking around public areas, and 69 in vehicle controls. Since the beginning of the state of alarm 700 reports have been filed, which represents an average of about 20 reports per day. These complaints can lead to fines of between 600 and 30,000 euros, in application of Organic Law 4/2015, of 30th March, on public safety.
The Calvià Local Police officers continue to carry out controls on the Calvià roads to avoid unnecessary movements in the different surveillance points that are set up. Last week, 44 vehicle controls were carried out to check compliance with Royal Decree 463/2020 on the state of alarm and the rest of standards that have been issued as expansion or development. In total last week, 2,515 vehicles were controlled and 69 offenders were reported. Since the beginning of the confinement, 237 roadside controls have been carried out, representing an average of more than six daily. The controls are usually carried out at the entrance and exit of all the population centres of Calvià, in which it has been verified that most drivers follow the rules. After forty days of restrictions in Calvià, there are hardly any significant incidents.
However, one more week, the cases of people who break the confinement to go to the forest areas, the countryside or the beach, are the most common ones. For instance, two young men from Santa Ponça, (18 and 19 years old), were in the forest on the military grounds of El Toro listening to loud music, at a control in Cala Vinyes four people were located sunbathing on the beach and yesterday a man was reported who was walking his dog away from his home to collect snails. It should also be reported within this context that, in addition to the functions of the state of alarm control, the Calvià Local Police has had to intervene in four gender violence cases and in a case of violence in the family environment with a minor involved.

According to the line marked since the state of alarm declaration, the Local Board of Security in Calvià met yesterday online to have follow-up on the state of alarm measures. Security forces in the municipality, the Local Police of Calvià and the Civil Guard, every Wednesday share the data collected and the joint and collaborative task they carry out. The meeting was attended by the mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal; the deputy mayor, Nati Francés Gárate; the director general of general services and Local Police, José Antonio Fernández Ballesta; the Town Hall's secretary, Joan Castañer Alemany; the chief of Police, Paco Darder Kittila; and the commander of the Civil Guard in Calvià, second lieutenant Agustín Paniagua.
The Local Police of Calvià applies specific hygiene measures since the beginning of the crisis caused by the SARS-COV-2, such as the compartmentalisation of the work teams, staging the start and end of the day, vehicle disinfection in each shift, the provision of surgical masks to officers and the procedure for use in cases such as when arresting someone, etc. It is also important to note that it has been limited the number of units made up of two officers, so most units are currently operating with a single police officer.
Calvià Town Hall reminds that the collaboration of the citizenship is essential and warns that we cannot relax in the fight against the coronavirus. Confinement is the maximum protection against the pandemic, in addition to following the recommendations of the health authorities and this should be the line to follow these days.
