CALVIÀ NEIGHBOURHOOD ENTITIES RECEIVE WEEKLY MUNICIPAL INFORMATION DURING THE STATE OF ALARM

The Department of Citizen Participation informs them on the news regarding the measures implemented by both the Town Hall and other public administrations

The Calvià Town Council maintains, since the state of alarm began, direct communication with the neighbourhood entities of the municipality to keep them informed of the different measures that are being carried out by the local Council and by other public administrations that affect citizens in general, in addition to proposing them topics for thought that can help them at this time.
The Councillor for Youth and Citizen Participation, Marga Plomer, explains that "it is very important that the Town Hall maintains direct and constant contact with neighbourhood entities, because they are the closest to the people. They do a basic task of accompaniment and information dissemination that is vital right now".
The Town Hall’s Department of Citizen Participation sends them an email weekly with municipal information about the various measures that, as a result of the state of alarm, are being carried out and that directly affect the day-to-day life of citizens, such as the ORA parking fees postponement or the changes that have occurred in some services such as waste collection, on alternatives that are offered due to the suspension of face-to-face service to carry out administrative procedures, etc. They are also informed about the actions put in place to alleviate the effects of the Covid-19 crisis, such as the tax payment postponements or the social aids available to people in a situation of greater vulnerability, amongst others.
But, in addition, neighborhood entities receive other types of information that may be useful at the moment, both individually and collectively.
In Calvià there are around twenty neighbourhood associations that carry out various activities throughout the year to maintain cohesion amongst citizens of the various residential areas of the municipality. As a result of the Covid-19 crisis, these entities decided to decline the aid they receive each year for area revitalisation (186,664 euros) so that the Town Hall can allocate the money to the most vulnerable people who have seen their income depleted due to state of alarm.
