Calvià Town Hall has renounced to apply for the Blue Flags focusing instead on the Q for quality Flags that respond to the quality parameters that the municipality seeks for its beaches
Calvià Town Hall decided not to apply for the Blue Flags and to opt instead for the Q for Quality Flags that respond to the quality parameters that the municipality seeks for its beaches and with the Strategic Beach Plan that the Town Hall has approved.
This year Calvià has 15 Q flags on the beaches of Bunguenvíl • lia, Illetes balneario, Cala Contesa, Portals, s'Oratori, es Carregador (Palmanova), Palmanova, Son Maties, Magaluf, Cala Vinyes, Ses Penyes Roges (el Toro), Santa Ponça, la Romana (Peguera), Torà (Peguera) and Palmira (Peguera).
The Q flags are awarded by the ICTE (Institute for Spanish Tourist Quality), under the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, based on the internationally recognised ISO quality standard.
Every year, the beaches of Calvià must go through an audit, which in the case of Calvià lasts 6 days (the last one was carried out by AENOR), in which compliance with the requirements and parameters established is verified, both with regard to the management and control of the procedures and work carried out on the beaches. In other words, there is an exhaustive control of the comprehensive management of beach services.
