CALVIÀ WILL ALLOCATE MORE THAN 2 MILLION EUROS TO HELP SELF-EMPLOYED WORKERS OF THE MUNICIPALITY WHO HAVE SUFFERED THE CONSEQUENCES OF THE COVID-19 CRISIS

Today the agreement has been signed with the Regional Ministry of Economic Model, Tourism and Labour according to which Calvià contributes with 1,500,000 euros

The Mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, and the Regional Minister for Economic Model, Tourism and Labour, Iago Negueruela, have signed this morning the agreement to implement an extraordinary aid for self-employed workers. The agreement is one of the measures integrated into the Municipal Plan for Social, Economic and Environmental Recovery that the Mayor signed with all the municipal political groups (PSOE, Podemos-Más, PP, Vox and Ciudadanos), UGT and CCOO unions, all the hotel associations of the municipality and the representatives of the associated offer (ACOTUR, Restauración-CAEB and subscription).

With the signing of this agreement, Calvià, which has a significant number of small businesses and self-employed workers, will have 2,092,168 euros for aid, of which 1,500,000 euros will be provided by the Town Hall, 444,955 euros will be provided by the Balearic Islands Government, and 147,213 euros from the Consell de Mallorca.

The Government will call these aids to support self-employed workers so that they can restart their activity once the de-escalation process has begun. Those who work all year but who have been affected by the declaration of the state of alarm can apply, and also those known as seasonal self-employed workers who have not been able to start their activity this year.

As for the amount of aid, it varies depending on whether or not they have people hired under their care. In case of not having, the aid is 2,000 euros; in case of having one or two, 2,500 euros, and in case of having more than two, 3,000 euros. According to the Regional Government, the aid is compatible with the extraordinary benefit for activity cessation approved by the central Government and with having made an ERTE.
