THE CALVIÀ 'OU VERD' ARTIST COLLECTIVE DONATES A SCULPTURE TO THE MUNICIPALITY OF CALVIÀ TO PAY TRIBUTE TO THE VICTIMS OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC
Calvià Town Hall received this morning the sculpture that the Ou Verd artist collective has donated in tribute to the victims of the Covid-19 pandemic. The sculpture, which has been made with recycled iron, is called Cor Calvianer. The work has been made by the sculptor Carlos Terroba "Thierro" and is accompanied by a poem by the author Manuel Navarro "Navarro Durruty" called El corazón de Terroba. The poem appears in a separate piece on a plaque to one side of the sculpture.
The official work's reception by the Town Hall has been carried out in a small act that has taken place at the Paseo del Mar in Palmanova, where the sculpture has been installed, with the attendance of the mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, who thanked the artist collective and the author for donating the work; the deputy mayor for Social Cohesion of the Town Hall, responsible for Culture, Nati Francés, and the councilwoman for the Palmanova area, Francisca Muñoz, as well as members of the Ou Verd Collective.
The Ou Verd collective, on the occasion of the donation of the work in the municipality, indicated that "From the memory, sadness and love to those who have not been able to overcome the disease, to the families punished for the loss of a being loved and society as a whole, our tribute goes to them ". They also added: "On the incomparable setting offered by one of our most emblematic beach promenades, next to the Calvià sea, this heart-shaped memorial is born".
With this donation, the ensemble made up of sculpture and poem becomes part of the municipal artistic heritage.
