The Calvià Town Hall has launched, for the second consecutive year, an extraordinary line of Covid aids for house rental for individuals and families who have difficulties to face monthly payments as a result of the economic and social impact produced by the Covid-19 crisis. Applications can be submitted from Monday 28th June to 23rd July.
These aids, with a 400,000 euros allocation, are aimed exclusively at people with problems to pay the rent due to Covid-19 and who are in the following situations: unemployed; in a temporary employment regulation file process (ERTE); self employed and have suffered a reduction in income or that the activity carried out has been suspended, and be a woman victim of gender violence.
The grants subsidise up to 40% of the monthly rent for rentals of up to 900 euros, and up to 30% of the rentals of between 901 and 1,100 euros per month. The grants will be awarded for a maximum of 4 months: May, June, July and August 2021.
In order to facilitate access to and obtain Covid-19 rental assistance, the same as last year, requirements and procedures are reduced, allowing the presentation of a responsible declaration. Likewise, online means to submit documentation are prioritised. Last year, 469 people benefited from these grants.
The Calvià Town Hall has increased by more than 200% the budget in 2021 allocated to rental aids (extraordinary and ordinary), although last year the aids granted exceeded the budgeted item, since housing is considered a right and therefore aid is given to all requests that meet the requirements, expanding the item if necessary.
These are exceptional aids, different from the ordinary subsidies that are convened annually since 2017.
