#MovimientoBanderasVerdes: campaign for a green recovery of the hospitality industry
Calvià will compete this summer to get the Ecovidrio Green Flag
Banderas Verdes rewards the efforts of the local hospitality industry and the Town Hall itself for their commitment to recycling glass containers and the fight against climate change.
A total of 350 restaurants, bars and beach bars in the area have already joined this initiative in collaboration with Calvià Town Hall and Ecovidrio.
Ecovidrio, the non-profit entity in charge of managing the recycling of glass container waste in Spain, launches a new edition of the Green Flags Movement, an initiative that aims to reward the efforts of hotel establishments in the area, the local hospitality and the activism of coastal municipalities for the green transition in a context marked by the recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic.
This edition will feature the participation of 20 municipalities of the Balearic Islands, Calvià Town Hall and 350 hotel establishments of the area. Together they will try to increase the levels of selective collection of glass containers and mobilise the hospitality sector.
Banderas Verdes (Green Flags), a movement for green recovery
Banderas Verdes is consolidated as one of the key initiatives of Ecovidrio's alliance with the hospitality industry at a time marked by the recovery from the pandemic and the need for a green transition. In fact, at the national level, this campaign is carried out in 129 coastal municipalities, in five different autonomous communities and has the participation of 14.000 hotel establishments.
