CALVIÀ RECEIVES A GROUP OF YOUNG PEOPLE FROM GREECE IN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE “ERASMUS +: YOUTH IN ACTION” YOUTH EXCHANGE PROGRAMME
During a week, they will carry out various activities to learn about the environment, culture and heritage of the island and the municipality
Calvià has received today a group of 18 young people, between 15 and 23 years old, from Greece, within the framework of the “Erasmus +: Youth in Action” youth exchange programme. Between 21st and 30th July, they will carry out various artistic, cultural and community activities within a programme developed by Calvià Town Hall's Youth Department together with a group of 16 young people from the municipality.
This morning, at Es Generador youth building, the deputy mayor for Citizen Participation and Youth, Marga Plomer, welcomed the boys and girls from Athens. Plomer wished them that their stay in Mallorca be enriching with the various activities that have been prepared for them and that they will carry out with the Calvià group. Likewise, she has emphasised that they are healthy and coherent leisure activities, respecting sanitary measures.
Throughout the week, there will be cultural visits to both the capital, Palma, and the most emblematic villages of the Serra de Tramuntana, as well as excursions within the municipality of Calvià, to the Galatzó Estate, or kayaking around the Malgrats islands. These outings that will take place at Es Generador, will be combined with other cultural, musical or gastronomic activities, amongst others.
Through these activities, which have been programmed by the Youth Department following all preventive measures to carry them out with the maximum safety guarantees, responsible leisure with values is promoted, motivating the local community to carry out European projects and consume artistic and cultural activities.
The second phase of the project, which consists of the group of young people from Calvià travelling to Athens where their Greek hosts will show them the history, monuments and cultural and artistic traditions of their region, is planned to be carried out at the end of August.
