THREE NEW TRAINING AND EMPLOYMENT PROGRAMMES HAVE BEEN STARTED AT CALVIÀ TOWN HALL THUS ALLOWING THE HIRING OF 36 UNEMPLOYED PEOPLE

Three mixed training and employment programmes were launched in October through the Calvià Training and Employment Institute (IFOC), in which a total of 36 unemployed people participate. Thanks to the three programmes launched by Calvià Town Hall, it will be possible the hiring of 10 young people under 30 years of age and 20 people over 30 who, with the support of 6 programme management professionals, will carry out works of social interest in the municipality of Calvià.

The mixed projects are programmes that combine real work and theoretical-practical training, within the framework of the training and apprenticeship contract. Its purpose is to improve the employability of the participants, through the acquisition of new professional skills. It is for this reason that, in addition to obtaining professionalism certificates and work experience for one year, an individualised insertion itinerary is also made for each student / worker.

The mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodriguez Badal; the regional minister for Economic Model, Tourism and Labour, Iago Negueruela; the deputy mayor for Education and Employment, Olga Granados, the IFOC manager, Darío Espallargas, and the general director for Economic Model, Llorenç Pou, welcomed the new student-workers, in an official inauguration ceremony of these programmes.

It has a duration of 1.680 hours, and allows the hiring for 12 months of 10 unemployed young people, under 30 years of age, registered in the national Youth Guarantee system and 2 project management professionals, registered in the SOIB.

SENDEROS LOCALES (LOCAL TRAILS), is the name of the project where the professionalism certificate of Guide through low and medium mountain itineraries will be given, complemented with the German language A1 level. The work or service that these young people will carry out consists of collecting information on the state of conservation of public trails of hikers interest, preparing tour guides, analysing signage or carrying out group guide activities, amongst other actions related to trails and routes of hikers interest throughout the municipality. They will also support the organisation and development of activities and events related to active tourism.

Also with a duration of 1.680 hours, it allows the hiring of 20 unemployed people, over 30 years of age, and 4 professionals registered in the SOIB, during a period of 12 months.

ES FIGUERAL: During this time, the student body / worker will be able to obtain the certificate of Auxiliary Activities in plant nurseries, gardens and garden centres and Auxiliary Activities in agriculture. They will carry out garden conditioning work in different municipal premises, such as municipal nurseries, Calvià promenade, various municipal garden areas, senior citizens' centres, etc. They will also participate in the Galatzó public estate agroforestry management project.

BOSQUE DE NA MORISCA: with this name we have called a project that allows participants to obtain two professionalism certificates in Auxiliary Activities in forest uses and Auxiliary Activities in conservation and improvement of forests. They will carry out forestry actions, such as the clearing, cleaning and maintenance of trails, and anti-fire strips in various peri-urban areas, but they will focus on the forest management of Sa Morisca Archaeological Park, and the agroforestry management project of the Galatzó public estate.

To carry out these three programmes, Calvià Town Hall has received 678.000,00 € granted by the Regional Ministry for Economic Model, Tourism and Labour, which has funds from the Sectorial Conference.

During the course of the programme, the student-worker will receive training in labour insertion and job search techniques, computer literacy and awareness-raising on equal opportunities. Training in new technologies will play an important role from the first day since the intention of the Town Hall is to train the participants in digital skills so that they can follow the distance training, so necessary today.

Despite the good evolution of the health situation derived from the Covid-19 pandemic, the IFOC has launched a training plan in virtual environments, the possible transfer of computer material to students who need it has been planned in case of home confinement and continues to implement measures of social distance, clean hands and adaptation of training spaces to make them as safe as possible for the people who participate in all the training activities that are organised.
