CALVIÀ TOWN HALL ANNOUNCES AID TO THE CULTURAL SECTOR OF THE MUNICIPALITY AFFECTED BY THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

With these subsidies, the Town Hall wants to contribute to the maintenance of the cultural sector

Calvià Town Hall allocates 40.000 euros for aid to the cultural sector of the municipality affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. These subsidies, aimed at reducing the negative economic impact caused by the Covid crisis and guaranteeing the support of the cultural sector, can be requested as from today 1st December.

The aid is aimed at Calvià artists, whether they are individuals, groups or associations, who work on creation, production or interpretation in any of the artistic disciplines (theatre, dance, music and audiovisuals).

The amount of the aid will be 2.000 euros per person, group or association, with the requirement of having a fiscal address in Calvià; being registered in the municipality (one person registered in the case of groups); having carried out any related professional activity during the years 2017, 2018 and 2019, and having obtained, between June 2020 and August 2021, 20% less income compared to 2019, amongst others.

All applications meeting the requirements will be entitled to the aid, so the budgetary allocation may be increased if the 40.000 euros run out. Likewise, having tax and Social Security debts during the years 2020 and 2021will not be penalised, provided that the debt does not exceed the amount of the aid.

The decision to implement these aids is justified by the need to compensate for the economic losses that have arisen from the pandemic, and to grant aid to Calvià artists to maintain their activity as a measure of protection and support for the development and progress of the cultural activity, and thus make effective the right of access to culture and the socioeconomic promotion in this sector.
