THE XXII CALVIÀ SHEEP AND GOAT FAIR PRESENTS AS A NOVELTY THE I CALVIÀ SUSTAINABLE AND NATURAL LAMB MEAT GASTRONOMIC COMPETITION AT THE 'MOSTRA DE CUINES DE CALVIÀ'

The poster competition to promote the Fair to take place in April is recovered for the 2022 edition

Calvià Town Hall, through the Environmental and Ecological Transition Department, is already preparing the XXII Sheep and Goat Fair, which is expected to be held this year within normal levels, always observing the current regulations at the time when it will take place.

In this year's edition, the aim is to encourage citizen participation, according to the councillor for the Environment and Ecological Transition, Rafel Sedano, as well as to promote the municipality's livestock sector. That is why, on the one hand, the Fair's poster competition is recovered and, on the other, a new activity is launched.

With the recovery of the poster competition, which was suspended last year, the aim is to stimulate artistic creation and, at the same time, publicise the Fair, for which a prize of 300 euros is established for the selected poster.

I Calvià sustainable and natural lamb meat Gastronomic Competition

This year's novelty is the launch of the I Calvià sustainable and natural lamb meat Gastronomic Competition at the 'Mostra de Cuines de Calvià 2022'. It is a competition aimed at catering professionals, with the aim of promoting knowledge on the gastronomic potential of lamb meat, as well as its proven characteristics as the most sustainable and natural meat, and as a result of the work of the livestock sector that keeps the rural environment alive and active.

The establishments that participate in the Mostra de Cuines de Calvià, which takes place every year on Fridays in April, may enter the competition, and they will have to present a dish in which the main ingredient is lamb meat. Creativity and flavour will be valued as fundamental factors, but also originality, innovation, the pieces of meat chosen and the production process.

The first prize for the competition's best recipe will receive 700 euros and a diploma, while the second winning recipe will receive 250 euros and a diploma.

The competition to choose the recipes will take place within the framework of the XXII Calvià Sheep and Goat Fair, while the dishes can be tasted at the Mostra de Cuines de Calvià.
