INFORMATIVE NOTE FROM THE CALVIÀ LOCAL POLICE

STOP TO LEISURE OF EXCESSES AND ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR THIS WEEKEND IN CALVIÀ

A coordinated device of the Local Police, the Civil Guard, the Regional Ministry of Economic Model, Tourism and Labour and the Department of Transition, Tourism and Sports of the Consell de Mallorca acted simultaneously

Public officials from the Calvià Local Police, Civil Guard, the Regional Ministry of Economic Model, Tourism and Labour and the Department of Transition, Tourism and Sports of the Consell de Mallorca have acted this weekend in different areas and leisure venues in the municipality of Calvià to put a stop to anti-social attitudes, derived from the excessive consumption of alcohol and other substances, which had occurred during the last weekends.

In Magaluf, three premises on Avenida de s'Olivera, Camí de sa Porrassa and Punta Ballena have been reported, in which three reports were drafted for Covid infractions. One of the premises had to be temporarily vacated due to widely exceeding the allowed CO2 level, until the environment could be ventilated.

In an entertainment venue in the Peguera area, reports were drafted for not wearing a mask, not respecting the safety distance and for irregularities with the CO2 meter. Inspectors from the Department of Transition, Tourism and Sports of the Consell de Mallorca also drew up a report for non-compliance with Decree-Law 1/2020 against tourism of excesses.

Likewise, during the weekend, the Calvià Local Police carried out several joint traffic controls with the Palmanova and Magaluf Civil Guard. Four drivers with excessive alcohol levels were detected -one of them treated as a criminal offence-, and two driving under the influence of drugs. In addition, a 23-year-old man was arrested for causing injuries to a tourist.

Additionally, during Saturday night, the Calvià Local Police drew up the following reports:
Offences of the Municipal Coexistence Ordinance
-11 for possession of narcotic substances
-8 for urinating in the street
-3 for disrespecting the agents
-2 for drinking on the street
-1 for throwing garbage on the street
-1 for possession of prohibited weapons
-1 for anti-social behaviour
-1 for disobedience to agents
-1 for trying to provide false data
-1 for shouting and disturbing the neighbours

Finally, the Calvià Local Police activities division carried out a sound test inspection at an establishment in Punta Ballena, which gave a result greater than 20 dB, which is a very serious offence according to Law 1/2007 against noise pollution.

Due to this, Calvià Town Hall will adopt a provisional measure to stop musical activity. In addition, this bar has also been reported for denigrating practices, considered a very serious offence in article 7 of Decree Law 1/2020 on tourism of excesses, referring to those practices that reify or hypersexualise a person, especially a woman, with the purpose of inducing the consumption of alcohol or to enter an establishment such as bars, restaurants, entertainment venues and any establishment open to the public. Another entertainment venue on Avenida s'Olivera in Magaluf has also been reported for this precept.

With these joint services, which will continue to be carried out, especially during the upcoming Easter holidays, it is intended to reinforce, in addition to the Citizen Security of the municipality of Calvià, compliance with municipal ordinances, the protection of the personnel's rights and extend it to consumers and users.
